From our secret devolment location in Orpington, Kent we will be showing you the modification of the R5 GTS. It was bought from Benny, (A Thousand Words Images), for £150 in Feburary of 2008, as a daily runner. The first thing that needed doing was getting the MOT, which it passed. Next on the list was replacing the OSF wheel bearing and cutting out some front end damage caused by some debris on the motorway. Jobs to do next included bleeding the brakes, replace two tyres, and replacing number plate bulbs.
After the brakes failed we then we decided to modify it for racing by finding a bike engine for it and going Hill Climbing. We were going racing anyway with our Volvo 850, but with its demise the opportunity to build a great race car was too good to resist.
We initially found an engine quickly thanks to Ural Moto, a Triumph 900cc triple. However, we recently found 955i Tiger engine, loom, cdi and injection system for a great price (many thanks to Dave). We have named it the R5-T955i to encompass all of the different vehicles that will make up this incredible vehicle. The car has been given the name Lynx in honour of the RAF aircraft of the same name.
Check out our Facebook Page or the photos for more regular goings on with the "Lynx".
